To Go Travelling in Southeast Asia...Indefinitely!

Travelling & Teaching Online

I've been teaching English online for over 1 year, on a website called iTalki.

I teach students of all ages. Most of my students are from Asia, so I’ve learnt a lot about their cultures, languages, and history through spending many hours chatting together.

I love my job because it's so flexible, I can work from anywhere with a good internet connection, and I get to meet awesome people from around the world!

Learning to teach English as a foreign language was the best decision I made after I left university in 2020. It was the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic and I couldn't find a job anywhere, I thought I would use my time wisely and I did.

My partner also completed his TEFL training and became an online teacher too.

Now we travel the world together, earning money from wherever we are and getting to visit amazing places along the way.

This year we've stayed in Seville in Spain, Split in Croatia, and Herceg Novi and Kotor in Montenegro.

Now we are in Thailand to begin our Southeast Asia adventure!

But this time, there's a difference:

We won't be teaching at all for a couple of months! We're taking some much-needed time away from teaching to explore Thailand and part of Malaysia before we intermittently begin teaching again.

That's the beauty of what we do, we get to choose when we work, where we work, and how much we get paid.

But…there’s one problem

Teaching online is amazing and I really enjoy it, the only problem now is that I don't feel like I can progress any further in this field.

I’m not a teacher by trade — I’m actually a Marine Biologist. People ask me whether I’d like to teach in an actual classroom, face to face with students and my answer is always no.
